About

Hey, I am Kevin Guenay, and I work for a global cybersecurity and IT solutions distributor as a senior solution engineer. In my work, I help our partners with their woes and questions related to cybersecurity solutions, support proof of concepts, and deliver expert-level training and workshops, among other things. I now deal almost exclusively with Fortinet products, but in my previous life at an MSP, I worked with HPE Aruba’s and Cisco’s portfolios as well.
I live something I like to call “service-oriented work”, which, to me, means making sure that everyone who works with me comes away feeling happy, because if the people I work with aren’t happy, I’m not. This means putting in some extra time and preparing for whatever I do, because things should get better.
I’m using this blog to post about whatever I think is interesting or helpful. During my journey in this industry, I’ve read so many things from so many people that helped me, and I want to give something back.
Overall, I’m just a guy from Austria who loves what he does, and I want other people to share my love.
The content of this blog represents my own views and opinions and does not reflect my employer’s stance on anything. I am my own person.

As Fortinet has written in their 8.0 New Features guide, the Zero Trust Network Access configuration got an overhaul and was simplified. To get used to the new way, I went through all the ways you can configure ZTNA, as well as integrate it with Entra SAML SSO. The fruits of my labour, dear reader,…

Quick tips: FortiSwitch custom command double quotes, ZTNA SAML vhost error, session evaluation after ZTNA tag changes
Not every post needs to be something that takes hours to get together, and that is why I want to start a new type of post, where I write about things I experience in my day-to-day, that seem interesting, and want to put out there, so maybe someone else doesn’t have to spend hours looking…

FortiOS 8.0 new features review
A new major release of FortiOS is always an exciting time in the Fortinet ecosystem, because it gives the direction on where Fortinet wants to take Fortinet and, of course, FortiGate. 7.0 brought us the Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA) features, for example, and that is still a big talking point. I want to take…

End-to-end FortiGate ZTP with FortiManager for SD-WAN and ADVPN
Zero Touch Provisioning (ZTP) is a wonderful thing that can turn hours into minutes, reduce errors, and help with standardization, among other things. In this post, dear reader, I want to go through the entire process, starting with a factory-reset FortiGate, to one that is fully integrated into an Auto-Discover VPN (ADVPN) environment with SD-WAN.…

FortiAnalyzer playbook variables: How to help yourself
As I was preparing for Accelerate 2026 and the Ultimate Fabric Challenge, one of the topics I wanted to focus on a lot more was Security Operations (SecOps), because this is an area I was always weak in. SecOps, in this context, means working with FortiAnalyzer automation, i.e. event handlers, playbooks, incidents and connectors. A…
